Some Important Words

  • Endangered = in danger
  • Species = life (animals, plants, tress, insects, etc.)
  • Endangered Species = life in danger
  • Extinct = no longer living.  Population = 0
  • Extinct in the wild = only lives in zoos.
  • Endangered = is going to be extinct
  • Threatened / vulnerable = is going to be endangered.

  • Tigers
  • Giant panda
  • Blue whale
  • Amur leopard
  • White rhino
  • Bonobo chimpanzee
  • Gorillas

Some Korean endangered species

  • Asian Black Bear / Half-moon Black Bear – 반달가슴곰
  • Korean Grey Whale – 한국 귀신고래
  • Eurasian Otter – 수달
  • Dhole – 승냥이
  • Water Deer – 고라니
  • Long Tailed Goral – 산양
  • Seoul Frog – 금개구리
  • Finless Porpoise – 조용한 사냥꾼, 살쾡이
  • Siberian Musk Deer – 사향노루
  • Ussuri Tube-Nosed Bat – 작은관코박쥐

  • Global warming
  • Disease
  • Pollution
  • Habitat loss / deforestation
  • Poaching / illegal hunting
