Using Twitter for Real World Vocabulary

One excellent way to see how words are really being used is Twitter. You can search Twitter in real-time and see how people are actually using words and phrases. For phrases, use quotes around your search term to make an exact search of that phrase. I recommend this as a fun tool that can be used in the classroom, as well as one which the students can use to help them study vocab on their own.

In the classroom, you can use Twitter to get examples of real-world usage or even analyze the different meanings and constructions. There are endless possibilities. And best of all, students get a new experience with a medium they are probably already used to.
